HGEA Endorses Ige/Tsutsui for General Election

HONOLULU — The Hawaii Government Employees Association (HGEA), the state’s largest labor union, is endorsing David Ige for governor and Shan Tsutsui for lieutenant governor for the upcoming General Election. “We believe both David Ige and Shan Tsutsui will be an effective leadership team who will move our state forward for the next four years,” said HGEA’s State Political Action Committee Chair Diane Nakashima. “They have demonstrated their strong support of working families and public employees, and recognize the vital services our members provide for communities statewide.” The endorsements were made by HGEA’s political action committees, which are composed of members from each HGEA bargaining unit statewide, as well...

HONOLULU-  As you may already know, a Hurricane Warning has been issued for the Big Island, while a Tropical Storm Warning is in effect for Maui County, Oahu and Kauai.  The safety and well-being of Hawai‘i’s citizens are my top priority, therefore we will be suspending all campaign activity today until further notice.  As Hurricane Iselle and Julio continue to make its way across our State, I want to encourage everyone to be prepared and to be safe. “No matter who wins the battle for the Democratic nomination for governor, incumbent Lt. Gov. Shan Tsutsui should be on the ballot as his running mate. In the Aug. 9 primary, candidates for lieutenant governor will be running on their own.
