Ige and Tsutsui Earn ILWU Support

HONOLULU—Hawaii’s largest private sector union announced its endorsement of David Ige and Shan Tsutsui, and is already urging members to support and vote for the Democratic gubernatorial team on November 4. The International Longshore and Warehouse Union (ILWU) Local 142 cites Ige’s 29 years of experience as a state lawmaker and strong working relationship with the union as reasons why he was chosen over other candidates for governor in this election. “David is the kind of man our members would want as a leader,” said ILWU President Donna Domingo. “He is a person who listens to all sides, makes good decisions, and gets work done. David often says that he will ‘do the right thing, the right way,’ and that is very important for the ILWU. We need government that not only does the right things, but also does them in the right way—competently, with fairness, and with real concern for people in our communities.” The ILWU is gearing up a grassroots network of volunteers to canvass, sign-hold, and...
